Richelle and Gary - 10/22/10

A big LP congratulations to our favorite newlyweds, Richelle and Gary! The wedding was so great and unique, and the bride looked BEAUTIFUL! 

It was a sweet tooth's dream! A chocolate fountain, candy bar, and all the cake and cupcakes you could want! We were so honored to make the cupcakes for them. We used our signature red velvet cakes throughout their engagement (via "cosmo "cupcakes and her pink tiered cake)  topped with cream cheese frosting. To make it extra special, we created wrappers for around the cakes, to add some beautiful jewel-toned color!!

Question: What is the difference between "unsweetened cocoa" and "sweet baking chocolate"?? 

 

Answer: SUGAR! (Believe it or not!)  Sweet baking chocolate has added cocoa butter and sugar, while unsweetened chocolate is pure (100% cacao) chocolate, without added sugar. I like to use the sweetened baking chocolate for my brownies!

Come out and help fight against ovarian cancer!

Join KC You There and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance at the “Teal Carpet Affair” on Saturday October 16, 2010 from 7-11pm at Social in Downtown Buffalo to help a big-hearted cause in the fight against ovarian cancer. This is a must attend event!! Guests will have the chance to walk down a customized Teal Carpet to show their support for those who overpowered and unfortunately lost their lives to the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women.

Tickets are $20 presale or $25 at the door. The “Teal Carpet Affair” will be a night of entertainment, Perry’s Ice Cream taste testing, hors d'ouevres, and top shelf beverages. The event will be filled with local activists, survivors, and athletes that share similar stories and join the fight to raise awareness and proceeds that will directly affect the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

Introducing one of our favorite Etsy.com vendors, The Bakers Confections!! It's a great idea to coordinate your cupcake liners with the theme of your party. They have everything from solid colored mini liners in multiple colors to gingham or polka dots!

What is also so great about these ladies is that they donate a portion of their sales to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Celebrity post! My Oreo birthday cake!

When my dear friend Erin offered to bake me a cake for my birthday this year, it didn't take long to come up with my dream combination: OREO + CHOCOLATE! I lent her my 9 inch pans, and told her to include my two favorite flavors, and make me proud..... 

She sure did!! Take a look at this beauty! 

I just loved it!! It was so delicious and so perfect, I couldn't ask for anything more! She used chocolate cake mix, layered with no bake Oreo filling, covered in vanilla frosting (mixed with the no-bake Oreo crust)! Such a great recipe, so delicious!! THANK YOU AGAIN, LOVEBUG!! xoxoxo

Lola Pearl bakes lemon meringue pie birthday cupcakes!

These cupcakes were a birthday present to myself with love. A delicious, moist lemon cake is filled with homemade lemon curd, and then topped with a traditional french meringue. (Toasted for 5 minutes in the oven for that authentic lemon meringue pie experience!)

I couldn't resist taking this picture of my pup, eyeing the cupcake as I stuffed my face ;)
