Behind the Apron TIP: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes!

These mini chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting are such a nice little indulgence!

Behind the Apron TIP: When looking for a chocolate cake recipe, be sure to look for one that uses espresso powder or brewed coffee. The coffee brings out the chocolate taste beautifully!

DIY project: Glittered Chargers

The most fulfilling DIY project is one that transforms an otherwise dormant item in your environment. Take these gold chargers for example. With one coat of Mod Podge, and 2 jars of Martha Stewart coarse glitter in gold, these are as fabulous as ever!!

The PERFECT coffee cake (+ recipe!)

These frigid winter mornings call for a perfect cup of coffee and a nice hearty, yet moist, coffee cake to get the day started right.

This is a THE coffee cake! The preparation is simple, and falling in love at first bite is inevitable!! The recipe makes makes two 9" inch cake pans, so you will be able to spread the love around!

(I'd imagine that the cake freezes well, once wrapped tightly, but that's never an option when this cake is around the LP family!)

Recipe:

Grease two 9" rounded cake pans.
Preheat oven at 375

Prepare Streusel topping:
1 cup brown sugar
4 tsp brown sugar
4 Tablespoons flour
4 Tablespoons melted butter
1 cup chopped nuts

To make the cake:

Cream
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar

Add:
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla

Combine dry ingredients and add into mixture
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Bake for 25-30 minutes.

I prefer cutting in triangles, but it's your coffee cake! Be creative!

Happy Baking!!
