The best Christmas Cupcakes of 2014

Cupcakes and Christmas should go hand in hand like cookies and Christmas. Granted, Santa's favorite gateaux dip better in milk, but cupcakes on a cake stand bring your Christmas table to the next level.

Here are some of our favorite cupcakes from throughout this holiday season:
Seriously, who wouldn't want to pop some of these festive mini Christmas cupcakes?!
Santa, baby. You've never looked so tasty! These cupcakes are super cute. Make sure you use pearlized sugar around the rim for his fur!
A star tip makes these mini cupcakes look like a Christmas tree!

DYI: Halloween Pinata Cupcakes

Halloween is best because of all the tricks and treats. We especially love treats that trick! Take these cupcakes for example - Delicious cupcakes filled with candies and decorated like regular, spooktacular Halloween cupcakes!

How to make:
1. Bake cupcakes according to recipe and let cool completely.
2. Using a metal teaspoon, indent a circle and dig out the center of the cupcakes.
3. Fill with desired candies.
4. With a piping bag, frost as normal and decorate!

Trick or treat cupcakes are fun for Halloween parties or even gender reveal parties.
Last month, we had a great time on the "Winging it, Buffalo Style" set making these cakes. Click here to watch the segment!

Golf Ball Cake Pop ALERT

Ahhh, the elusive golf ball cakepop.
They are spectacular on all levels.
The same can be said for the inspiration of these balls. Oncore Golf's ball has a hollow, metal core. These golf ball cake pops have a delicious vanilla cake core.

Behind the Apron Tip: If you plan on making them at home, be sure to use toothpicks instead of normal cake pop sticks. The toothpicks will be easier to hide with fondant "tees" as well as make your life easier in the process of preparing them! Pin It

Irresistible Polka Dot Minnie Mouse Cookies

There's no question that Minnie Mouse cookies are the cat's pajamas when it comes to birthday parties for little girls under the age of 5.

The secret to make these beauties (besides buckets of patience) is the color-flow polka dots.

Spotted: (Lime) Cinco de Mayo Cupcakes

WANTED: Shot of tequila

Rimmed with salt or rimmed with sugar, when a cupcake has a tangy lime frosting, the texture of the sugar rim longs for a salty finish and a shot of tequila. Oh, wait. That's for all of the margarita fans!
These virgin margarita cupcakes are adorable and are a great way to statisfy a Cinco de Mayo craving.

Cute Alert: Gender Reveal Cake

Gender reveal cakes are becoming more and more popular. We love a good reason to impress avec les gateaux, so the Lola Pearl team has had a couple of gender reveal parties involving a sweet concoction.
We love love love the way this gender reveal cake spills out pink candies!!
For the last baby girl, there were filled cupcakes. While it's fun to have the color-coordinated cream filling, spice it up and fill only one with the color. The lucky attendee with the pink or blue cupcake will squeal with delight! Pin It

St. Patrick's Day cupcakes

You don't have to be Irish to enjoy mini cupcakes decorated for St. Patrick's Day!

We went to a party this morning and made these mini funfetti beauties. Mini cupcakes are perfect for a party because they are so "pop-able".

Whether you take a few bites or pop the whole thing in your mouth - the luck of the [buttercream] Irish shamrocks will surely bring you luck!

Behind the Apron Tip: All you need to make a shamrock out of buttercream is a rose tip and some green frosting! Pipe three hearts (with the wide side of the tip down) - rotating after each heart. When you've finished, pull the icing down to create a stem.

She sells seashell (cookies) by the seashore....

Seashell cookies are (almost) as charming as the real thing! These are so pretty, you just want to stare at them and imagine you're on a warm, sandy beach!

Marblizing cookies is not as difficult as you think. If you are familiar with color-flowing, this is an easy trick to master. The trick is that you want to do one cookie at a time, using a clean toothpick. Pin It

Banana Split Cupcakes

Summertime might still be far away, but ice cream dreams come in the form of cupcakes this time of year. The banana split cupcake can go down in a couple of different ways. Afterall, there are plenty of components that make up the beloved frozen treat: bananas, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pineapple, peanuts, and, of course, whipped cream with a cherry on top.

These cupcakes feature a banana cake, topped with strawberry buttercream and all the fixings (minus the cherry)!

baker's man:
Bake me a cake inside a cake as fast as you can!
A surprise cake is right up your alley if you are looking for something fun and with an easy wow factor. The most difficult part of baking this cake is deciding on which shape you want to see once you cut inside. If you decide on pumpkin bread with a pumpkin cookie cutter, tint it like on

Click here to watch the video of our cooking segment on Winging It Buffalo Style from last week. As always, I had a great time with the people at WIVB!
