It's King Cake season!

This is a great article from NPR about King Cakes: Tuesday is Mardi Gras, also known as "Fat Tuesday". It's traditionally celebrated as the last day of indulgence and revelry before the start of the annual Christian fasting season known as Lent. And no Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans is ever complete without the king cake, a traditional pastry dating back to the 19th century.

Traditionally decorated with yellow, purple and green sugar, the ringed pastry is filled with a cinnamon/sugar mixture and a plastic baby hidden inside.  The person who gets the baby in their bite becomes the "king"!

Here's a picture of the homemade king cake at the Mardi Gras party we attended!
