DIY Recipe: Strawberry Freezer Jam

One of the reasons summer is so great is the bountiful berries. Take advantage of strawberry season this year by making homemade strawberry freezer jam.

There is no need for any fancy canning contraptions with this baby. Simple ingredients make a quick summer recipe for heaven in a jar!

Recipe following the break....

What you need
2 cups of crushed strawberries (usually takes about 4 cups of whole berries)
4 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1 (1 3/4 oz) package powdered fruit pectin

In a large bowl, combine crushed strawberries with the sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, stir the pectin into the water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil on medium-high heat, and boil for 1 minute. Pour over strawberries and sugar and let the mixture stand for 3 minutes.

Spoon mixture into freezer containers. Let stand at room temperature for about 24 hours before freezing.
