It’s official, the Second Annual Teal Carpet Affair (TCA) is right around the corner! Saturday, September 24, 2011 the TCA will close down Social from 7:00p to 11:00p  to help raise awareness for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance! So far the response has been tremendous and KC You There would like to forward some information onto the public attending or for those deciding to attend!

Richelle and Gary - 10/22/10

A big LP congratulations to our favorite newlyweds, Richelle and Gary! The wedding was so great and unique, and the bride looked BEAUTIFUL! 

It was a sweet tooth's dream! A chocolate fountain, candy bar, and all the cake and cupcakes you could want! We were so honored to make the cupcakes for them. We used our signature red velvet cakes throughout their engagement (via "cosmo "cupcakes and her pink tiered cake)  topped with cream cheese frosting. To make it extra special, we created wrappers for around the cakes, to add some beautiful jewel-toned color!!

Come out and help fight against ovarian cancer!

Join KC You There and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance at the “Teal Carpet Affair” on Saturday October 16, 2010 from 7-11pm at Social in Downtown Buffalo to help a big-hearted cause in the fight against ovarian cancer. This is a must attend event!! Guests will have the chance to walk down a customized Teal Carpet to show their support for those who overpowered and unfortunately lost their lives to the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women.

Tickets are $20 presale or $25 at the door. The “Teal Carpet Affair” will be a night of entertainment, Perry’s Ice Cream taste testing, hors d'ouevres, and top shelf beverages. The event will be filled with local activists, survivors, and athletes that share similar stories and join the fight to raise awareness and proceeds that will directly affect the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

DIY dessert: Cream Puffs!!

Looking for an easy and delicious dessert?? Try cream puffs!! The recipe below is taken from Betty Crocker's New Picture Cookbook (first edition, printed in 1961). Gotta love the retro cookbooks! I wish you could see these illustrations!! Classic!

Profiteroles (Puffs): 
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
4 eggs


1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2.) Heat water and butter to a rolling boil in saucepan
3.) Stir in flour over low heat and continue stirring vigorously until mixture forms a ball (about 1 min)
4.) Remove from heat
5.) Beat in eggs thoroughly, 1 at a time. Beat until smooth
6.) Spoon into ungreased baking sheet into mounds 3 inches apart
7.) Bake 40-50 mins or until puffed, golden brown and dry. 

You can also opt to place the dough into pastry bags, and pipe out 12 fingers, 4 inches long and 1 inch wide OR (mini) "petits choux" for a bite-sized ending to a special meal or party! But be sure to cut the baking time to about 20-30 mins if you make smaller puffs!

Custard filling: (Fills 10-12 large cream puffs.)
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups milk
4 egg yolks (or 2 eggs), beaten
2 tsp vanilla (or preferred flavoring)

1.) Mix sugar, flour and salt in saucepan
2.) Stir in milk and cook over medium heat, stirring until it boils
3.) Boil 1 min then remove from heat
4.) Stir a little over half of mixture into egg yolks, then blend into hot mixture in saucepan
5.) Bring just to boil
6.) Cool and blend in vanilla

The rest is up to you! Cover with chocolate or powdered sugar, fill with ice cream, whipped cream, or berries... make it your own!! Here is a picture of Martha's profiteroles with vanilla gelato and raspberry coulis to tickle your taste-buds and get your culinary creativity flowing!

Super special cupcakes for a super special occasion!

To celebrate a dear coworker's departure into new frontiers, we made these Buffalo Sabres inspired cupcakes. A dedicated fan of our red velvet with cream cheese cupcakes, she requested them in blue and yellow in honor of the do or die game 5 on Friday night. 

Looks like they were good luck! 

The Sabres and Bruins will be playing game 6 tomorrow!!

These Michael Jackson Black & White Velvet mini cupcakes were made for a recent birthday of a personal friend. Since our red velvets are so divine, we decided to personalize the cakes for the major MJ fan and add little chocolate jimmies along the way.

March Madness hits Lola Pearl!!

Spotted: Lola Pearl cupcakes at St. Francis High School!

 We loved making these “March Madness” cupcakes!

We used orange jimmies and melted chocolate to create the basketballs and made backboards out of graham cracker and white chocolate (using gum drop strips for the basketball nets)!
